tourists...

for the past three years rob has been overseeing the renovation and conversion of the historic arctic club building into a luxury hotel. it finally opened this month and we had the pleasure of spending the night in this beautiful building.

it is really an incredible place with lots of gorgeous original architectural features. rob has really enjoyed working on this unique project.
one of the highlights for him was being involved in the process of opening their restaurant juno and all the "research" (eating) that was required. i'm really excited to get to dine there tomorrow night at juno's opening day. we did get to sample some of their amazing desserts in our room which was one of the highlights of our stay for the kids.

the next day we did some seattle sightseeing which included taking in the fantastic views from the top of the smith tower and doing the famous seattle underground tour. both for my first time, and i'm a native! the weather was perfect, the kids were good, and i may have a new appreciation for this city.

i love touring in our own city!

i have found that when you have company and they list all the things they want to do, that there really IS a ton of cool things to see around here.
i've never done the underground, or been up the smith tower.
{i do want to do the firemans climb one day}
looks like a beautiful hotel, job well done rob!
and lucky you all for being the first to try it out!

Hahaha..I hadn't been here in awhile so that first thought I had when I saw the pictures was "Wow! Their house remodel is AMAAZING!" I had a couple of closer looks tho and realized that wasn't your bedroom or living room! ") What a cool hotel tho, thats really impressive. I don't know if I'll ever get to stay in it but Rob's team did an fabu-lus job.
I've never done the underground either- I've heard you should do it with taller shorties than mine. Maybe just Mallory since she's 7 now. Sounds like it was a great time!
Thanks for your comments :)-good stuff havin' a neat husband.

That project did turn out great! What a treat to stay there together.

I can't believe you'd rather be fed well and served instead of sweating in the seafair 5k. ;)

i am so jealous of you doing the underground seattle tour. it's on my list of "need to do in seattle" but i keep going to disneyland instead!

and the smith tower is my favorite building in seattle. jas's work used to do their christmas parties there every year.

i really want to do a walk around downtown to just take pictures of some of our amazing buildings!
love ya

Ok, Love, love, love the hotel. Now I feel really guilty for making you stick around that day so you could give me a wonderful tour of your home renovations when you could be spending more time at that awsome hotel. I honestly thought that you and the kids were going to stay at a hotel still being renovated. Wow, And for all of you out there that would love to see more pics of Kelly and Rob's home renovations, let me tell you how awesome it is. Great job you two and thanks for giving me a tour. really

Love the pages, happiness. And love that you had some fun family time amid the daily stress of life. When (if?) we build, you and Rob are my key design consultants! :)

Wow, it's such a beautiful hotel!! I'm a lot like the kids... my attention went right to the dessert plate! What a fun day, I'm a native too and haven't done most of the touristy things of Seattle either. We need to get out more!

the underground tour was really cool and interesting. even for grady. it was about an hour and a half long.
and i'm hoping to post some updated home-reno pics soon.

Hi! I found your blog on my sister Shannon's blog page. We live downtown just a few blocks from this hotel! Very cool that Rob was such a big part of this project! We will have to walk to Juno for dinner sometime.

What an impressive hotel. Also, the underground tour is one of my most favorite tourist attractions here. I think I've been four times, and it never gets old!
